Lynne Ramsay - Morvern Callar (2002)

If you awoke on Christmas Eve to find your partner dead on the floor, how would you react? Morvern Callar takes the viewer into the strange world inhabited by Morvern, who reacts to her lover's sudden demise with cool detachment. A soundtrack of cool electronica interspersed with the odd classic replaces dialogue for most of the film, which accompanies Morvern on a mental and physical journey to make sense of the loss of her partner and the futility of her mundane existence.

Go Shibata - NN-891102 (1999)

This film's cryptic title refers to the atomic bombing of Nagasaki (Nagasaki Nuclear 8 [August] 9 [the day] 11:02 [the time]). A 5-year-old boy survives the fateful blast and thinks that its sound has been captured on his father's tape recorder, only to become obsessed with reproducing it when the tape appears to be empty.

Thomas Heise - Eisenzeit (1992)

Synopsis
Documentary film on the memories of four children from Eisenhüttenstadt who were all born at the same time the Berlin wall was built.

Stephan Komandarev - Svetat e golyam i spasenie debne otvsyakade AKA The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner (2008)

A search for both family and cultural identity takes place on a tandem bicycle in this emotional drama from Bulgarian filmmaker Stefan Komandarev. Alexander was born in 1975, when Bulgaria was being ruled by an oppressive political regime that encouraged distrust among its people. Alexander (Carlo Ljubek) was raised in an extended family, with his parents Vasko (Hristo Mutafchiev) and Yana (Ana Papadopulu) sharing their home with Yana's folks Bai Dan (Miki Manojlovic) and Sladka (Lyudmila Cheshmedzhieva).

Assaf Bernstein - Holy for Me aka Yonah Sidas: Moreh Derech (1995)

This spoof on tours, guides, and the "holy" sites of Israel concerns thirty year old Jonah Sidas, who had a typical  Jewish-Israeli upbringing; he was born and raised in Jaffa, graduated from high school and served as a paratrooper in the army. One day, Jonah donned the cross and black gown of the priesthood; now he guides pilgrims around Tel-Aviv, which he believes is a holy city for the Christian faith. Join Jonah and his unwitting group of tourists on an insane two-day tour of Tel-Aviv.
