One of the best Israeli films of all time, highly influenced by the French New Wave cinema of that time. Three Days and a Child (Hebrew: Shlosha Yamim Veyeled) is a 1967 Israeli drama film directed by Uri Zohar. It was entered into the 1967 Cannes Film Festival where Oded Kotler won the award for Best Actor.
Old and new relationships are explored in this film based on the classic story by A.B. Yehoshua. The film follows three days in the life of Eli a young man returning home to the Kibbutz after army service. Upon returning home Eli discovers that the woman he loves has married someone else. He is then asked to watch over her son for three days while she and her husband take off to Jerusalem.
The movie is a chilling look at how the small child becomes an instrument of vengeance against his mother, Eli's old flame. Eli believes that he might be the father of the boy and develops a love/hate relationship towards the boy. He leaves the boy in several perilous situations and at the same time tries to love the kid in order to reclaim his old love. The film includes two erotic love scenes of Eli and various lovers
